Dr Joy Mutegi BIO I am an applied mathematician and Lecturer at Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU), with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. I previously served as Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (2017–2024), where I led curriculum development, faculty training, and the transition to e-learning and blended teaching. I hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. My research spans applied mathematics, pure mathematics, and statistics, with publications in international journals. I am very passionate about capacity building in digital learning, having facilitated several training's for faculty and students and led sensitization workshops on AI in teaching and learning. I have also contributed to international initiatives, including volunteering with Professors Without Borders supporting faculty and students in digital learning and ethical AI integration and employability skills in several universities in Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda,. I have been a keynote speaker in several conferences and webinars including: • University of Nairobi (UoN) International Conference on Educational Management, Policy & Curriculum Studies (ICEMPCS 2026), Re-imagining Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Transforming Teaching and Productivity • Mathematical Thinking for Responsible Living: From Equations to Ethics-International Day of Mathematics, 2025, • Education, Ethics, and Social Responsibility-International Women’s Day Conference, 2025 among others. I am also actively involved in mentorship, community service, and curriculum development at both institutional and national levels. My professional motto is: “Teaching minds and touching hearts.”
